Top 10 Best Robot Vacuums of 2022
Robot vacuums are not just a pricey gadget anymore. They have become more capable than ever — you no longer have to manually clean the floor, since the robot will take care of that. Their navigation has improved drastically. Instead of moving chaotically around the room, they analyze the surrounding area to create the best possible cleaning route. Sounds good, right? Not to mention that some robots have a self-emptying base where they put all the collected dust, leaving you with nothing to worry about.
We have rated ten best robot vacuums and presented their pros and cons to help you choose the perfect one. How were they tested? We looked at each robot vacuum’s cleaning abilities, extra features and checked if the app was easy and simple to use.
1. Okami U-Series
Okami is a brand influenced by Asian technologies and it really shows. The vacs in their U-Series line offer a wide range of features that depend on their price. The cheaper ones are equipped with more simple navigation systems, while their all-new product, Okami U110 Home Station, has a self-emptying base and a high tech laser to find its way around your home. NIDEC engines account for high suction power that can increase up to 5,000 Pa.
While cleaning, all the robots do not make a lot of noise. We would not say that they are completely noiseless, but they are definitely quieter than other robot vacs.
They are also able to move across thresholds, but ones not higher than 2 cm.
As for the mopping feature, you can regulate how much water comes onto the mop cloth, so the robot will leave no puddles on the floor!
Now let’s look at each of the vacs individually.
Okami U80 Pet is pretty efficient at cleaning floors. It can easily pick up pet hair and other small debris. Two side brushes sweep the dust towards the main brush making sure to collect two times more fug (in comparison to vacs with just one side brush). A dual core processor AMICRO is installed inside of Okami U80. It allows the robot to create a map of your home. The vacuum moves around using optical and infrared sensors — that’s why it is the cheapest model in the line.
The main brush has been changed. Now less hair gets stuck to the brushroll and it is easier to clean. The suction power can reach up to 2,500 Pa which is a very good result for a cheaper vac. Remember that the popular Roborock S7 has the same suction power and is considered mid-range. During our tests, Okami U80 performed well and its only con is relatively poor navigation. The robot might tangle in the wires and probably will not notice pet waste. This model is the best option for a small apartment. With not much space to cover, the vac will manage just fine.
Okami U90 Vision is a bit similar to Okami U80 in some aspects, but otherwise it is completely different. What’s new is the navigation type and new functions available in the official OKAMI app. There is an HD-camera installed in the upper part of the vacuum. It records the surrounding area and uses nearby objects as landmarks. This vac will be a good purchase for everyone who lives in a place with a floorspace of more than 800 ft2. As this gadget is more advanced, the app has more features to offer. You can draw cleaning areas or no-go zones right on the map created by the robot. Pretty useful, if you ask us!
Okami U100 Laser is superior to the two previous models because it navigates the way using LiDAR technology. After analyzing the surrounding area, the vac creates an accurate map and shows it in the app. And the whole process takes a couple of seconds! By the way, the robot can save several maps in its memory, which is great news. U100 cleans for 150 minutes, so it will manage to cover your entire floors in one single run. If, somehow, the vac runs out of battery before finishing its task, it will charge up and continue cleaning where it left off.
The mopping feature is quite interesting. The robot moves around following the pattern of the letter ‘Y’. This way it mops one spot twice and scrubs off dirt more efficiently. As we already mentioned, you can regulate the amount of water applied to the mop cloth.
Okami U100 Plus is the most powerful of them all! The suction power of 5,000 Pa is more than enough to scrupulously vacuum carpets as well as floors. So the overall performance of the model is impressive. Apart from that, this vac closely resembles Okami U100 Laser. As its predecessor, the robot uses laser navigation sensors to find its way around your home. The battery lasts long enough for the vac to clean for 2 hours straight. Okami U100 Plus mops the floor as diligently as Okami U100. That means you are getting not only a great vac, but also a decent mop in one gadget.
Okami U110 Home Station is a stand-alone model in the U-Series line since it has a self-emptying base. The base is rather small but, interestingly enough, it can store lots of dirt and dust inside. You will have to empty it only once every 3 to 4 months. Sounds almost too good to be true! The suction power amounts to 2,800 Pa, which is pretty good. This vac has been given a more capacious battery. As a result, it can clean for 3 (!) hours before running low.
The mopping feature is a bit different this time. The robot simply moves back and forth to scrub the floors. Still better than most of the other robot vacs, though.
Reasons to Buy
- Many vacs to choose from. You can opt for a cheaper gadget or buy a more expensive one.
- Advanced navigation
- Large water and dust tanks
- Not noisy
- Vacuum as well as mop
- High suction power
Reasons to Avoid
- Might have trouble connecting the robot to the app
The Overall Score: 4.9/5
2. Roborock Q5
The Roborock Company has presented a few new vacs this year, and Roborock Q5 is one of them. This model is cheaper compared to other popular models like Roborock S7 and S6. However, the basic parameters are still impressive. The suction power of 2700 Pa is enough to collect dirt and dust. The vac also automatically increases suction to the maximum when it gets on a carpet.
Roborock Q5 can clean for 3 hours without recharging itself. That means the robot will manage to cover floorspace of more than 2,000 ft2. The floating brush from Roborock S7 can be found in this model as well, which is great news — the robot will effectively clean up pet hair.
It can be controlled through Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Siri. A useful feature for elderly users or for when you do not have your phone in hand. A rather large dustbin (470 ml) means you will not have to empty very frequently.
Now let’s say a few things about the app. It is rather easy to use and offers a range of various functions. For example, you can set virtual walls and no-go zones or edit the blueprints of your house. You can also customize your cleaning preferences for every room (they include suction power, cleaning schedule and more). The vac performed very well in our tests, proving that Roborock is still one of the best robot vacuum companies out there.
Reasons to Buy
- The app is easy to use and has many useful functions
- Affordable price
- Laser navigation
- Increased suction
Reasons to Avoid
- The self-empty dock is purchased separately and costs almost as much as the robot itself
- The mop pad might catch on carpets
The Overall Score: 4.7/5
3. Dreametech L10 Pro
This robot vacuum from Dreametech has much to offer for a balanced price. First of all, it can simultaneously sweep and mop so the robot will not have to clean twice. Second of all, the suction of 4000 Pa can rarely be found in more affordable models, and Dreametech L10 Pro definitely stands out because of this. It also automatically boosts suction on carpets.
LiDAR navigation ensures that the vac avoids obstacles and plans the optimal cleaning route. If you have a multi-level home, this vac will be perfect for you: it can save up to three maps. Using the app you can remotely control the gadget, schedule cleaning, set no-go zones and choose area cleaning.
The dustbin is super large (570ml), though the water tank is relatively small. The robot can operate for 150 minutes — not a bad result. L10 Pro is compatible with Amazon Alexa so you can use your voice to start, pause or stop cleaning.
Reasons to Buy
- 4,000 Pa suction
- No-go zones available
- 3D-mapping to avoid obstacles
- Simultaneous sweeping and mopping
Reasons to Avoid
- The app is not really easy to navigate for speakers of English
- The navigation system detects hair clumps as objects
The Overall Score: 4.6/5
4. eufy Robovac X8 Hybrid
This vac from eufy is an interesting one. Mainly because it has not one, but two twin turbines. Each of them generates suction of 2,000 Pa. This helps the robot pick up more dirt and debris. Another thing is that dust is packed tightly in the dustbin, so there is no need to empty it after every cleanup.
Robovac X8 Hybrid can be operated through voice control assistants Alexa and Google Home. What you get with the robot also deserves a notice. It is nice that eufy offers additional filters, brushes and mopping clothes.
LiDAR technology is responsible for navigation and obstacle avoidance. The gadget also performs well even in low-light areas. The robot swept diligently during our tests, but mopping did not impress us. Robovac X8 Hybrid simply wipes the floor.
Reasons to Buy
- Two turbines with 2,000 Pa suction each
- Mops and vacuums at the same time
- Additional consumables
Reasons to Avoid
- The mopping feature is not that great
- Might have trouble connecting the vac to Wi-Fi and the eufy app
The Overall Score: 4.6/5
5. Neato D10
The Neato company is well-known in the robot vacuums industry so it’s no surprise that one of their models got into our review. The robot’s shape is unusual, it resembles the letter D. Neato claims that such a shape helps the vac clean more efficiently along the walls. We doubt that it is the case but still like the design choice.
Suction power of 2,500 Pa is expected in a midrange robot so there’s not much to tell. During our tests, the robot performed well and picked up all kinds of debris. Also bear in mind that D10 has no mopping feature, it only sweeps floors and cleans rugs.
MyNeato App is easy to use but does not really help with managing the robot. You kind of have to guess the functions, so it is unlikely that you will find it easy to use. Apart from that, you can set virtual walls and no-go zones, schedule cleaning and select zone cleaning.
Reasons to Buy
- 5 hours of runtime
- Modified main brush
- Big coverage area
- True HEPA filter
Reasons to Avoid
- The app does not provide a lot of information on how to use it
- Need to change HEPA filters frequently
- Might have trouble connecting it to Wi-Fi
- Customer Service is not the best
The Overall Score: 4.6/5
6. +360 S10
This robot vacuum surprised us with its slim design. The height of 8.5 cm seemingly leaves no space for the LiDAR ‘tower’, but actually it is just positioned elsewhere. To be precise, the LiDAR navigation is hidden in the bumper. Its unique structure allows the robot to clean thoroughly under most furnitures. Apart from that feature, the robot is rather basic, but in a good way.
The app offers a lot of features that are sometimes not easy to use. For example, managing multi-floor cleaning can be a bit of a task. Besides that, there are functions like no-go zones, schedule cleaning, and routine plan. You can also sync the robot to Alexa or Google Assistant to control it with your voice.
S10 has suction of 3300 Pa and manages to pick up all kinds of debris from the floor. It has successfully passed our tests. The water and dust tanks are equally impressive — each can contain up to 500 ml. The mopping feature is quite ordinary, the robot wets the floor but doesn’t really mop it.
Reasons to Buy
- Suction of 3300 Pa
- Large water and dust tanks
- 8.5 cm height
- LiDAR navigation technology
Reasons to Avoid
- Not clear how to use some features of the app
- Basic mopping feature
- Cannot edit saved maps in the app
- Rather expensive
The Overall Score: 4.4/5
7. Shellbot SL60-1
The robot from Shellbot is quite a bargain since it has suction of 4000 Pa and can clean up to 200 minutes. The company assures that the vac accurately recognizes objects and avoids them. After our tests we can say that this statement is partly true since there were moments when the robot recognized debris as an object to avoid.
With the help of the Shellbot app you can adjust suction, water distribution, set up no-go or no-mop zones and area cleaning. There is also a remote control that comes with the robot and can be used to operate it. Connect the vac to Alexa and it will follow your voice commands.
The gadget continues cleaning after recharging the battery. A great feature for owners of spacious homes which the robot might not be able to clean in one run.
Reasons to Buy
- Suction of 3300 Pa
- LiDAR technology
- Additional consumables
- Good size battery
Reasons to Avoid
- Not clear how to use some features of the app
- Basic mopping feature
- All water levels seem to distribute the same amount of water
The Overall Score: 4.4/5
8. Ecovacs Deebot T8
Deebot T8 intelligently detects objects that can block its route — cables, slippers, furniture or childrens’ toys. Suction power of 1500 Pa is rather unspectacular. It is always better to opt for a gadget with suction of more than 2000 Pa. It will manage to clean hard floors but other than that it won’t do much.
A nice thing is that the robot boosts its suction when it gets onto the carpet or rug. No remote control is provided so controlling the vac is only available via the app.The ECOVACS app allows to regulate water flow level and suction, choose cleaning times and set no-go and no-mop zones.
The vac wets the floors instead of actually mopping them. The company suggests upgrading the mopping feature by purchasing an oscillating scrubbing mop, but we recommend thinking twice before buying it. It doesn’t really do anything to make the floors cleaner.
Deebot T8 is compatible with an auto-empty station; you can purchase it separately.
Reasons to Buy
- Vacuums and mops simultaneously
- Rundown time of 180 min
- Missing area notification from the app
- Auto-boosts suction on carpets
Reasons to Avoid
- The water tank is too small and has to be refilled during cleanups.
- Basic mopping feature
- Loses its connection with Wi-Fi once in a while
- The purchasable mopping attachment doesn’t improve the quality of mopping feature
- Poor suction of 1500 Pa
The Overall Score: 4.1/5
9. ZCWA Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
The design of this gadget is pretty simple and it is obvious that it does not support LiDAR navigation technology. The ZCWA vac uses infrared sensors to find its way – okay for a small apartment, not so much for bigger homes.
The suction power is moderate, only 1400 Pa. However, it is reasonable for such a budget-friendly robot. It has a mopping feature, which is definitely a surprise. This vac mops as most of the other models do by simply wetting the floors.
The vac’s height is only 2.87in. It is the slimmest gadget in this review. It comes with an app and a remote control and can be operated via Alexa and Google Assistant. The app is not really helpful. You can’t set no-go zones or choose cleaning plans. However, it is possible to choose edge cleaning mode, zig-zag cleaning mode, spot cleaning and schedule cleanups.
Reasons to Buy
- Incredibly cheap
- Has a mopping feature
- Has an app
- Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant
Reasons to Avoid
- Poor suction power
- Small water tank
- Basic navigation
- The app has few features to offer
The Overall Score: 3.9/5
10. Gttvo Life J10C
This slim robot vacuum from Gttvo Life is one of the cheapest options in this review and there are a few reasons for that. It uses gyroscope technology to navigate its way. The height of 2.81in allows Gttvo Life J10C to easily sweep floors under furniture and in other hard-to-reach places.
The robot can clean for 150 minutes before recharging which is rather impressive. Suction power of 2,000 Pa is reasonable for such a budget friendly gadget. The vac picks up debris from hard floors quite alright but cannot thoroughly clean carpets.
There is no app to operate it, only a remote control. Because of this, you cannot set virtual walls. However, you get two 6.6ft magnetic boundary strips to block any area from the robot.
We think that this is a great bargain for such a low price. So, if you do not have much money to spend, consider buying Gttvo Life J10C.
Reasons to Buy
- Can work in a silent mode
- Very cheap
- Slim design
Reasons to Avoid
- Does not support virtual walls
- No app
- Moderate suction
- No mopping feature
The Overall Score: 3.6/5
We hope this review will help you choose just the right robot vacuum!
